Infrared is an effective tool that increases a Marine Surveyor’s ability to see, measure and document active and potential problems. The FirstMate’s powerful infrared detector allows marine surveyors to scan the structural integrity of any vessel, as well as electrical, propulsion and fuel systems, machinery, navigation and other on-board electronics. Infrared finds problems before malfunctions occur.

Why Infrared?
Electrical, mechanical, propulsion and power generating systems often emit an abnormal heat signature before they fail. Structural problems in FRP, wood and composite laminates are also visible to the FirstMate. Infrared scanning will pinpoint these problems fast. Finding these problem areas allows for a proactive maintenance plan that will avoid catastrophic failures that result in an owner’s anxiety, unscheduled loss of use and unplanned expense.
